Our Procedure
Initial Assessment
The procedure is that we meet up by
appointment for a mutual initial assessment. This first
meeting gives both us and yourself, an early opportunity
to decide if we can work together. This is usually a
time to find out more about your counsellor; what is
involved in working ethically in the counselling
process. Brief explanations of the theoretical
approaches that will feature in your sessions will also
at this meeting be given to you.
There is no pressure to take a decision
as you are encouraged to think things through.
The initial assessment will last about an
hour with you hearing how counselling might be able to
help you and some in-depth information about
confidentiality, data protection and privacy..
When you finally make the decision to
enter into a therapeutic relationship with your
counsellor, the contract, including the fee and the
period of time to work together are all confirmed.
Also you will be encouraged at this stage
to share some information about the problem and what you
hope to gain out of the sessions, before any formal
counselling takes place.
Cancellation Procedure
Every client's session is designed
specifically and solely with them in mind. Therefore, if
for any reason you are not able to attend your session
please contact your counsellor or the reception staff to
cancel as soon as possible.
Cancellations done less than 48 hours
before the booked appointment will automatically incur a
50% cancellation fee.

A standard session runs for between 50 to
60 minutes.
After four sessions the contract is
reviewed. At this stage an additional referral or
adjustments may be made. Or, we may negotiate to end or
agree to continue with the process, whichever is
appropriate or desired.
